The main story can be somewhat compared to the comics, it had some elements from the comics which were great. It was great to know that they did a bit more backstory on Bucky because it was still hard to figure out how Bucky became The Winter Soldier. The film goes through multiple flashback for the first 30 minutes of the film, it shows where Bucky was before The Winter Soldier, Bucky was being kept under ice just like finding Captain in ice, but Bucky was in a Russian controlled facility.
